Hey, I'm
I design and build distinctive digital products, turning ideas and Figma concepts into production-ready React and Next.js experiences.
Product-minded frontend development for teams that care about how their software looks, feels and works.

Hey, I'm Rutger. I'm a design engineer and creative technologist working across product design, frontend engineering and physical making. Over the last 4+ years I've built complex digital products with React, Next.js and TypeScript, often sitting somewhere between design, engineering and product rather than neatly inside one discipline.
I like taking messy or ambitious ideas and turning them into things people can actually use—from data-heavy SaaS interfaces and design systems to experimental tools, websites and interactive prototypes. I'm happiest when I can think about the wider product while still obsessing over the details of how it looks, moves and feels.
Outside digital product work, I run Swirski Studio, my circular fashion practice. Working physically with materials, patterns and prototypes has changed the way I approach software too: make something, test it, understand it, refine it.
Swirski Studio is where I make physical things—one-off garments, patterns and objects built from reclaimed materials.
It feeds back into the digital work: stronger visuals, clearer systems and better details.
